MoMA PS1 Events
Our lead creative, Ryan Muir, has been a pivotal collaborator in documenting the vibrant arts programming at MoMA PS1’s contemporary art space. His work captures the essence of the museum's innovative exhibitions and dynamic courtyard music series, Warm Up. Through his lens, Muir has championed some of the most progressive and genre-defying sounds that resonate across the Queens landscape, offering a visual narrative that enhances the audience's experience of these groundbreaking events.

A Lot of People
One of the notable exhibitions documented by Muir was Rikrit Tiravanija’s (Thai, b. 1961) showcase at MoMA PS1. The exhibition featured many of Tiravanija’s iconic interactive works, reflecting his interdisciplinary practice that engages with cultural differences, interrogates the parameters of place, and explores how people can come together. Muir's photography not only captured the physical aspects of Tiravanija’s installations but also the emotional and intellectual engagement they provoked in visitors, bringing the artist’s vision to a wider audience.
Virtual Warm Ups
In response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, MoMA PS1 produced its first-ever ‘virtual Warm Up’ broadcast, a groundbreaking initiative documented by Muir. This virtual event was screened at various venues throughout Brooklyn and Queens, drawing significant attention and participation. The broadcast aimed to support a fundraiser for struggling arts and nightlife venues affected by the economic impact of the pandemic, highlighting the critical role of community and solidarity in the arts sector during times of crisis.
Ryan Muir’s documentation of MoMA PS1’s programs, from in-person exhibitions to virtual events, has been instrumental in preserving and promoting the museum’s mission. His work not only provides a visual record of these artistic endeavors but also amplifies their reach and impact. As MoMA PS1 continues to push the boundaries of contemporary art, Muir’s photography will remain a vital part of telling its story and celebrating the transformative power of art in the community.
